  • Initiate or alter insulin regimens
  • Interpret blood glucose values and manage the patient accordingly
  • Understand the risks and benefits of different oral hypoglycaemic agents
  • Understand the advantages of a fixed rate insulin infusion in treating diabetic ketoacidosis.
